The primary function of the Controls Engineer III is to provide
controls engineering to project teams that are responsible for the
design, acquisition, installation and upgrade of critical systems
and equipment used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products.
The Controls Engineer III assumes responsibility and accountability
for capital and expense engineering projects involving facility or
production equipment, cost reduction, process improvement, cGMP
upgrades, etc. In addition, the Controls Engineer III will provide
engineering support to Contract manufacturing teams to include
process development and support of related capital projects.
Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provides leadership, support and guidance of capital & expense
project teams, to include; financial justification and tracking,
procurement, implementation, commissioning, start-up and

Participate and/or lead cross-functional project teams and provide
project communication and documentation.
Responsible for the proper use of cGMP and Engineering
documentation systems. Examples include: electronic SOP
documentation management system, training records, change control
system, engineering drawings, validation documentation, etc.
Knowledge and application of regulatory requirements for facility
and manufacturing equipment to ensure compliance to local, state,
federal and international agencies is required
Provides engineering support and guidance for Maintenance
department to include control system diagnostics and repairs.
Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or
other related Engineering field required.
Minimum of 5 years related experience required. Experience in a
pharmaceutical and/or FDA Regulated Industry desired.
Project management, process development, or manufacturing support
engineering experience, preferable in a regulated industry (ie:
pharmaceutical manufacturing) required.
Ability to utilize Allen-Bradley controls hardware and software
including: PLCs, PanelView HMIs, VFDs and Servo Drives. Rockwell
Software knowledge using RSLogix, FactoryTalk View Studio and
Ability to utilize Wonderware software, including Intouch, InSQL
Historian, Archestra IDE and DA Servers desired.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
Experience using Microsoft Access and Project desired. Mechanical
Ability to perform cost estimating and project scheduling in a cGMP
Ability to write complex and detailed engineering reports, to
document work completed, and to utilize and apply basic engineering
calculations in a cGMP environment required.
Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings, specifications,
logic diagrams, schematics, verbal and written instructions
Ability to utilize GE Proficy software packages: Fix32, iFix and
Proficy Historian desired. Ability to utilize TCP/IP networking and
Microsoft SQL Server desired.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 40 pounds unassisted, 20/30
corrected vision, exposure to allergens, working in aseptic areas,
working in confined spaces, prolonged sitting and standing. Minimal
travel is required.
