Through a unique collaboration between Universal Health Services and Providence Health Services, Inland Northwest Behavioral Health became the first free-standing mental health hospital in the city of Spokane, Washington. The 100 bed hospital, located near the Sacred Heart Medical Campus, nestled into the hillside, consolidating the public areas and service spaces on the first floor. The facility includes a dining room, a gym, and each of the four units have 2 activity rooms-one for louder activities, such as music and movies, and another for quiet activities. There are also two outdoor courtyards, as well as offices and administrative spaces. The x-shaped design separates the 100 patient beds into four 25 bed wings and centralizes staff for security and operational efficiencies. Three of the inpatient units are designated for adults (18+) and the fourth unit is specifically designed for adolescents ages 13-17. It is the hospital's aim to provide a "home-like environment" to promote a holistic, patient centered approach to mental health. Position details: The Milieu Manager will function as a staff-development trainer, sharing expert techniques and strategies with core and prn staff working with patients of all ages. This will include demonstrating effective crisis-management skills, taking proactive steps to prevent crises on the units when warning signs become evident, and provide a coach-to-team approach of problem-solving on the units. Additionally, the Milieu Manager will be responsible for managing other LPNs and the Mental Health Technicians, while recognizing all nursing team members who need additional training with therapeutic techniques/skills and provide intentional redirection and oversight to help improve such skills. This position is full time, 40 hours per week The schedule is four, ten hour shifts. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduate from an accredited program of licensed practical nursing required. Current Washington State LPN licensure 3-5 years of experience in hospital or healthcare setting Possess knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors BLS, First Aide, Verbal De-escalation, and Handle with Care trainer certifications (provided by INBH) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, or related Previous supervisory experience One of the nation's largest and most respected providers of hospital and healthcare services, Universal Health Services, Inc. has built an impressive record of achievement and performance.
