Description The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs is pleased to announce the recruitment for a Registered Nurse 3 - Evening Supervisor at our Spokane Veterans Home in Spokane, WA. This position works from 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with Sunday and Monday off. The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is comprised of more than 800 dedicated staff who strives to fulfill WDVA's mission of "Serving Those Who Served." To achieve this mission, WDVA provides critical services to veterans and their families, both in the community and among four veterans' homes within the State of Washington. WDVA is a national leader in the quality of and advocacy for veterans claims submitted to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, reaching out to Washington's more than 600,000 veterans. WDVA operates four Medicare/Medicaid and Federal VA Certified Veterans Homes in Port Orchard, Orting, Spokane, and Walla Walla providing nursing care for honorably discharged veterans, to include, in some instances, their spouses, widows or gold star parents. Duties Some of what you will be doing: This full time Registered Nurse 3 - Resident Care Manager (RCM) Evening shift Supervisor position, under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services (DNS), provides professional nursing services and has oversight in the delivery of nursing and nursing related care. Key Responsibilities: Direct and supervise subordinate nursing personnel, serve as a role model of health care provision. Coordinate assignments of staff to residents, provide direction and information via accurate communication of current resident status and care needs to the staff. Monitor subordinate staff's attendance, meet with them regularly to review and address concerns and report those concerns as appropriate to DNS. Assist with interviewing job applicants. Coordinates staff education with staff developer. Ensures clear, consistent documentation of resident care to meet facility standards, state and federal regulations. Ensures adherence and application of agency and facility policy and procedure. Oversees reporting of incidents, ensures prompt, thorough initial investigation of incidents in compliance with regulations. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Current WA state licensure as RN. Two years' experience as an RN. Knowledge of State and Federal regulations and guidelines for resident assessment. Assess, evaluate, and participate in the development of appropriate plans of care. Plan, implement, and document appropriate discharge planning for residents when appropriate. Preferred Qualifications: Supervisory experience. Bachelor's degree involving major study in Nursing. Three years of professional nursing experience preferably in long term care.
