Providence is calling a Registered Nurse (RN) (Surgical Services, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE, Full Time) to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. Sacred Heart Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our growing Operating Room team located in Spokane, Washington! We have several RN Periop positions posted. You will need to apply to each one individually that you are interested in.

Are you a RN who is seeking an opportunity to train to become an Operating Room RN? Do you enjoy working as a part of a multi-disciplinary care team? If so, this may be the opportunity for you! Our Peri-Op 101 program includes a combination of didactic nursing and computer-based learning, along with a preceptor-guided experience. !

Training will be FTE 1.0 full-time day/evening shifts & transition to hired position shift and specialty after successful completion of the program. Ongoing position includes call and weekends and will support our Peds, General, Ortho and Neuro populations.

In this position you will:

  • Employ Nursing Professional Practice: Assess, diagnose, plans, implements and evaluates patients' care. Develops, update and coordinate the patient's plan of care to achieve patient goals and to optimize outcomes and transitions across the care continuum. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate. At the completion of the residency, demonstrates competencies in populations served and performs essential competencies as required by specific unit of hire

  • Advocate: Effectively advocate for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote the autonomy, dignity, rights, values and beliefs of those we serve

  • Facilitate Learning: Fosters a learning environment for patient/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team including students; facilitates formal and informal learning for patient/families, nursing, other members of the healthcare team, and community

  • Align Practice with Safety and Quality: Accountable for safety, identifies and correct problem, and integrate evidence, and best practice into nursing care; uses data and evidence to improve patient outcomes. Aligns patient safety, self-safety and environmental safety as equally important for best outcomes

  • Engage in Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development; practices to the top of license within the legal parameters of the Nurse Practice Act, the Nursing Social Policy Statement, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and specialty standards. Promotes a culture of inquiry that explores, integrates and disseminates research and evidence based practice

  • Lead in the Practice Setting & Community: Lead and coordinate teams, appropriately delegate, coordinate care and collaborates with others as equal members of the inter-professional care team to integrate nursing knowledge. Models professional behaviors as a representative of the nursing profession


    Qualifications - External

    Required qualifications for this position includes:

    • Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire

    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or higher within 3 years of hire. Or equivalent educ/experience

    • Any previously agreed upon effective date for obtaining a Bachelor's degree in nursing between individual and facility will remain in effect

    • Any collective bargaining contract with specific time frames for obtaining a Bachelor's degree in nursing will supersede the above point and will remain in effect

    • Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis at each facility by the most senior administrative nursing leader in consultation with the Human Resources leader.RNs employed prior to 1/1/17 are encouraged to obtain a Bachelor's degree or higher degree in Nursing, but obtaining the degree will not be a condition of employment

    • Unencumbered RN license in state(s) of hire, and wherever care is delivered. If RN holds a multi-state license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), the RN must adhere to the requirements of licensure in the new state(s) of hire

    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) at time of hire. Card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) - (BLS Provider) upon hire

    • Completed a pre-licensure nursing program and is newly licensed. Length of time since graduation can vary; however, typically is less than 12 months from graduation

      Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

      • Bachelor's degree in nursing upon hire

      • National Certification in area of specialty
