Responsibilities

SEASONAL POSITION, NON-BENEFITTED. PAY: $45 PER HOUR REPORTS TO:Nurse Manager SUMMARY STATEMENT & PURPOSEThe LPN is a licensed practical nurse who prescribes & coordinates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. Under the supervision of an RN, the LPN must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served under the supervision of RN.All employees are expected to be pleasant, respectful, and courteous in all interactions with patients, families, staff, and visitors of the Hospital, as well as being a positive representative of INBH at all times. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate from an accredited program of licensed practical nursing required.
  • Currently licensed to practice in the State of Washington.
  • BLS, Verbal De-Escalation, and Handle with Care certification, provided by INBH PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a psychiatric health-care facility is preferred.
      Qualifications

      SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIESAll functions are essential functions unless otherwise noted.The job functions of this position are not limited to the duties listed below.
    • Following nursing standards/procedures/protocols/treatment orders, the LPN cares for patients
    • Completes initial nursing admission assessment by demonstrating the nursing process and by transferring the information to the initial treatment plan.
    • Ensures Provision of Safety & Comfort of all patients
    • Document and reassess any significant changes in the patient's condition in compliance with facility's policy.
    • Assess the milieu and coordinates / updates the Lead Nurse / Administrative Supervisor to plan milieu management.
    • Shall ensure that patients requiring seclusion and/or restraint are monitored, assessed, evaluated and humanely treated using least restrictive measures and that appropriate documentation of same occurs per facility policy and as governed by law.
    • Monitor interactions between staff and patients/families; intervenes and mediates immediately if necessary and is appropriate.
    • Medications administered safely and accurately: documentation is accurate and timely.
    • Monitor unit activity and encourage patient participation. PHYSICAL & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS, WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS:
      • Ability to sit and stand (one-third of the shift) and walk (two-thirds of the shift).
      • Ability to reach above, at or below waist height, kneel, bend, stoop, turn, twist, and throw (occasionally to frequently).
      • Ability to see well enough to read charts, treatment plans and typewritten materials.
      • Ability to hear well enough to detect noises on the unit and have the ability to discern odors.
      • Ability to frequently lift and carry 10 lbs.; occasionally 20-50 lbs.
      • Ability to frequently push/pull wheeled carts from 100-200 lbs.
      • Ability to manipulate small and large tools (electric thermometer, telephone, wheelchair, blood pressure cuffs, walkers, paper punch, addressograph, restraints, staplers, EKG machine, copy machine, etc.)
      • Ability to spend 95% of the work day inside in temperatures varying from 60-90 F., where noise levels range from low to high and the ability to spend 5% of the work day outside in temperatures varying from 30o-110 o
      • Ability to frequently handle hazardous/infectious waste.
      • Ability to work in an environment where chemicals are frequently used for cleaning, where mechanical and electrical hazards may occasionally be present and where dust, mist and steam are frequently generated in housekeeping tasks.
      • Ability to work at a rapid pace and perform a variety of repetitive duties.
      • Ability to respond to exposure to blood and body fluids.
