The position: As the Payroll/Property Accountant , you will be responsible for all payrolls related to Axis Residential, Inland Group, and Sunset Management. The Payroll/Property Accountant reports to the Corporate Controller and will have frequent interactions with Community Directors and vendors. Payroll Responsibilities Manage and process bi-weekly multi-state payroll, including timecards, garnishments, benefits, and taxes. Work with Human Resources to ensure the processing of new hires, time allocations, promotions, and terminations is accurate and timely. Respond to employee inquiries in a timely manner that will require detailed explanation or interpretation using extensive knowledge of established guidelines, policies, and procedures. Review and process accurate year-end reporting, such as employee W-2's and ACA reporting. Process and reconcile benefit deductions, FSA, and 401K on monthly basis. Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger. Assist in providing support for 401k and Worker's Comp audits. Property Accounting Responsibilities Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year end financial statements according to GAAP. Complete day-to-day financial transactions of assigned properties. Analyze various transactions and identify appropriate accounting treatment. Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger. Reconcile monthly bank statements to the general ledger. Record and process accounts payable and accounts receivable. Process cash receipts and prepare bank deposits. Assist with preparation of annual operating budgets. Assist management with special projects and other tasks as assigned Other Duties: This job profile is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of job duties and responsibilities, as one may be asked to perform additional tasks in order to meet the needs of the organization. What we are seeking: Must be a team player who takes a 'we' over 'me' approach to building and sustaining relationships with others. Must be determined, ambitious, and self-motivated. Must have strong organizational and time management skills with ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment. Excellent communication skills; must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English. Associate Degree required; Bachelor's Degree in Accounting strongly preferred. Minimum two years of multi-state payroll experience. Experience in the property management industry preferred. Experience with UKG Payroll and Yardi Accounting software is preferred. Candidates should have moderate experience in Microsoft Excel. Valid driver's license and insured, operable vehicle. Benefits & Compensation: Competitive salary, $60,000-$65,000 (based on experience). Bonus incentive. Annual performance review with potential merit increase.
