Job Description:

Glyph Language Services is currently seeking a razor-sharp, self-reliant and enthusiastic Localization Support Specialist to join our exceptionally high performing Translation and Localization Team. The Glyph Localization Support Specialist is the backbone and strong arm of the production workflow, analyzing files for quotation, prepping localization projects as they come in, perfecting them visually and then ensuring delivery of high quality, on-time deliverables to customers. This position is located in Spokane, WA; however, could theoretically be remote, depending on experience and other factors.Job responsibilities include but are not limited toCoordinate all phases of assigned translation projects including pre-processing and post-processing of files, correct file versioning and management, and project archivingThoroughly review source material for issues potentially affecting quality or delivery timelinePrepare and preliminarily engineer source files for CAT tools and Translation Memory; post-process translated filesUtilize advanced skill with a range of design, layout and graphic applications to ensure the formatting of target files matches the original source files or conform to other designated guidelinesTroubleshoot and resolve DTP, graphics, and font related issuesAssist in the development of translation glossaries and translation memoriesProvide engineering support to Project Managers by analyzing project requirements and preparing support budgets for outsourced tasksAnalyze files for quotation and quote complex projectsProvide training and technical support to vendors, translation teams, and support peers; supervise technical processes in terms of quality and productivity of the assigned teamCollaborate on the design, implementation and documentation of new support processes and toolsEssential QualificationsTechnical education, preferably in computer science; a relevant university degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may be substitutedIn depth know-how in the use of a good range of graphic design and desktop publishing tools (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Office, e.g.) and all major file typesIntimate knowledge of the localization industry and its technical aspectsAt least 2 years of recent experience with memoQ and a good knowledge of CAT tools generallyAdvanced knowledge of Windows operating systemsComprehensive knowledge of standard office software (Microsoft Office)Excellent spoken and written EnglishPreferred QualificationsAdvanced knowledge of HTML / XML formatsBasic to intermediate programming skills (C/C++, Visual Basic, etc.)Basic to intermediate scripting (e.g., Windows Scripting Host [js, vbs], Perl, RegEx)Experience with audio/video/software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, FinalCut)Experience with courseware localization (e.g., Articulate Storyline)Experience with localizing subtitles and voice overFacility in more than one language a plusApply now!
