Job Description:

Under direction of Director and Manager, supervise revenue cycle staff in Patient Financial Services (PFS) including recruiting, training, development and mentoring, time management, and all levels of discipline. Ensure that staff follows appropriate standard work processes and industry standard billing rules for accurate and timely billing and reimbursement of medical and pharmacy services including payer coverage and insurance verification, correction of service capture and billing errors, timely and compliant claim filing, cash reconciliation for patient and insurance monies, denial resolution, patient billing and collections, and all aspects of customer service to provide an excellent patient experience. Effectively employ lean principles of daily management to ensure staff engagement and identification of opportunities for improvement in their team, within PFS, and across the enterprise to reduce defects and optimize revenue. Essential Responsibilities:Manage the work. Supervise staff responsible for accurate, timely billing of payer claims and patient billing statements, collection and remittance processing for all party receivables, and all aspects of effective accounts receivable management. Ensure effective revenue collection activities within the work teams and throughout Delivery System Business Services. Participate in recruiting and development of staff including training, mentoring, regular supervision meetings, engagement, recognition and disciplinary action as needed. Ensure competency of staff to meet production expectations through regular auditing and feedback. Effectively manage staff performance and collaborate with staff on development plans to encourage personal growth. Use knowledge of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington policies and procedures, agreements stipulated in the collective bargaining agreement, and state and federal leave regulations to manage staff behavior accordingly.Manage the management system: Manage team's daily management system to ensure customer requirements are met through the use of lean tools including effective visuals, daily team huddles, validation of standard work, periodic review of cycle times, continuous process improvement, and trending incoming demand to identify staffing requirements. Develop effective and compliant standard work procedures. Establish targets and limits for key measures to support department and enterprise goals and initiatives as established by Manager or Director, and track performance against those goals. Engage staff in the daily management system. Provide input from team experience to Manager and Director to impact PFS work plans and strategies.Manage improvement: Lead staff and coordinate with other work teams across the revenue cycle value stream to achieve more effective outcomes. Employ lean process improvement techniques such as gathering and trending data to identify opportunities for improvement, teaching and using A3 thinking concepts, conducting process walks, and consulting with staff who do the work. Participate on enterprise cross functional workgroups that impact billing, compliance and collection activities, representing Patient Financial Services and making decisions on behalf of PFS. Actively participate in process improvements, including system redesigns and upgrades, adoption of new regulatory requirements, and improving workflows to support compliant billing and reduction of defects. Collaborate with other enterprise teams to provide feedback and ensure efficient business processes are followed.Basic Qualifications:ExperienceMinimum two (2) years of supervisory experience in health care billing and collections.Minimum four (4) years of health care billing and collections experience in an automated environment.EducationAssociate's degree OR two (2) years combination of training and/or experience will be considered, including certificate program in medical billing or coding, in lieu of degree.High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) is required.License, Certification, RegistrationN/AAdditional Requirements:Knowledge of industry standard health care billing, coding and collections, basic general ledger accounting.Excellent business writing, analytical, communication skills.PC skills, including Microsoft Word & Excel.Preferred Qualifications:Experience managing staff under a collective bargaining agreement.Experience in an Epic environment.Demonstrated knowledge of Epic Resolute billing system, ICD9/10, CPT, HCPC coding.Lean management principles and techniques.Able to obtain Coding certification shortly after hire/transfer.Able to obtain Epic proficiency shortly after hire/transfer.Bachelor's degree in health care administration, business administration, or equivalent related major.COMPANY: KAISERTITLE: Supervisor Revenue Cycle PFSLOCATION: Spokane, WashingtonREQNUMBER: 1014109External hires must pass a background check/drug screen.
