Description/Job SummaryJOB SUMMARY:You are an experienced and passionate Healthcare Security Officer. As a Healthcare Security Officer, you will undertake the surveillance of our Client's healthcare premises and the protection of their staff, members and visitors. You will detect and prevent any suspicious activities, assist in incidents of disaster, report incidents, uphold order, write detailed reports and provide customer service in a friendly and professional manner.YOUR IMPACT:We strive to be an industry leading physical healthcare security organization, providing safety for our Healthcare Client and the communities they serve. You are providing a high-level of healthcare security services that will help to change the future of healthcareResponsibilities/DutiesProvide an atmosphere in which all Client staff, members and visitors know that the Client responds to and cares about their needs; provide a courteous, respectful and pleasant interaction with each client staff, member and/or visitor; presents a good image of BCI, the Client and its Security Department. Maintain and display good public relations skills when interacting with staff, members and visitorsMonitor and control access of facility building entrances and vehicle gates and when necessary, prevent unapproved or unlawful entry. This includes monitoring remote entrances using closed circuit television or traffic control dutiesObserve and watch for signs of crime or disorder and report any suspicious/unusual behavior or hazards and notify the appropriate party depending on the situation and assist, when neededPatrol facility (on foot or in vehicle) per patrol guidelines and remain vigilant for anything unusual or potentially threatening, including checking protection devices and fire control equipmentRemove trespassers/violators or detain trespassers/violators if further action needs to be taken, including assisting medical personnel with restraining patientsProtect the Client's facility, staff, members and visitors from injury or loss due to incidents or emergenciesRespond to and assist in incidents of disaster: healthcare facility emergency codes, fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, active assailant, hazardous material event, inclement weather, and any other emergency incidentsProtect evidence, secure scene and direct people in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations; setting up barriers and signage as necessaryProvide excellent customer service to all staff, members and visitors by providing information regarding the facility, or any other assistance needed and communicating in a manner that is courteous, respectful and pleasantPrepare and submit required logs and reports per BCI and Client's proceduresKnowledge of or ability to learn security & healthcare operations and proceduresAge-Related Competency: Has demonstrated knowledge of and competence in age-related patient care, as defined and documented in the facility standardsWhen applicable, accurately log and maintain the Lost and Found logAdhere to all company policies and procedures and remain in compliance with local, state and federal regulationRequired EducationHigh School Diploma or GEDRequired QualificationsValid Government issued Driver's License or valid state issued I.D. cardBureau of Security and Investigative Services Certification or Guard CardMust have or be able to obtain IAHSS basic and advanced certification within six months of employmentDemonstrate excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing capabilitiesKnowledge of or ability to learn security operations and proceduresAdhere to applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Healthcare Security OfficersAble to pass each healthcare competency exam and/or skills labMaintain professional composure when handling crisis situationsBasic computer skillsCourteous and professional telephone mannerSurveillance and observation skillsHigh-quality customer service skillsCritical thinking and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks with good time-managementAble to work overtime without advanced notice
