ABOUT WALLA WALLA FOUNDRYWalla Walla Foundry is one of the largest
fine art fabricators in the world. Originally founded in 1980 as a
bronze casting foundry, it now employs over 100 people and produces
work in a range of materials and through multiple processes. ABOUT
THE GROUNDSPERSON/MAINTENANCE ROLEThe Groundsperson/Maintenance
will be responsible for the care of landscaping and grounds
surrounding 15 buildings in Walla Walla. Maintenance and care
involves lawn care, trimming of hedges/shrubs, leaf/snow removal
and other special projects as assigned. The role also includes
general maintenance of irrigation systems and landscaping
equipment. This is a great position for someone with some previous
experience in landscaping looking for a steady position (its
full-time and year-round!) that offers good pay and great benefits.
This is an onsite position, with regular scheduled hours from 7 am
to 3:30 pm. Overtime available, with an earlier start. JOB
RESPONSIBILITIES OF GROUNDSPERSON/MAINTENANCE
- Maintain site landscaping which includes lawns, trees, shrubs,
flowers, turf and irrigation
- Care for established lawns and grounds by performing general
lawn care such as fertilizing, removing debris, mowing, edging and
raking lawns
- Prune and trim trees, hedges and shrubs
- Manage invasive weeds and pests through various controls such
as spraying and burning. Apply insecticides, fertilizers, and
chemical sprays as directed
- Operate and perform general maintenance on equipment including
power mowers, saws, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, sprayers,
etc.
- Keep grounds clean (walkways, driveways, parking lots) and
ensure they are free from trash, litter and debris. Empty trash
receptacles
- Conduct basic irrigation audits and perform basic repairs
- Remove snow by using a shovel or snow blower; apply deicer
- Operate Foundry vehicles, including an assigned Foundry
vehicle, to move self and equipment to various locations in Walla
Walla
- Follow all safety policies and procedures; performs all duties
while following required safety protocols and while wearing
required PPE
- Assist Facilities Team with facility repairs as needed
- Other maintenance duties as assigned
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES
- High School Diploma or GED desired
- 2+ years minimum groundskeeping/gardening experience including:
- Operation of power equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers,
hedge trimmers, leaf blowers
- Knowledge and experience with different landscaping techniques,
processes and approaches
- Knowledge and experience safely applying fertilizers and
pesticides
- Knowledge and experience using hand tools for landscaping
- A valid driver's license and a good driving record required
(for insurance purposes) to drive Foundry vehicles
- Ability to become certified to operate Fork Truck and other
Foundry equipment (Foundry will train) required. Prior experience
driving mobile equipment including fork truck, skid steer or
pulling a trailer desired
- Approach work with a safety mindset
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments
- Must be reliable, with strong time-management skills and
approach work efficiently
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and
ability to collaborate with team members
- Ability to use an iPad to communicate through email,
maintenance management system and to reference equipment
documentation
- Ability to communicate and comprehend instructions including,
but not limited to safety policies, SDS sheets, work, and

Starting Wage: $17-21/hour, depending on experience.PHYSICAL
DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENTThe Groundsperson/Maintenance role is an
active, physical position. Physical demands include ability to
stand, walk, stoop, bend, and crouch for extended periods of time.
Must be able to work at heights, including climbing ladders and
working from scaffolding and/or lifts. Ability to lift, carry,
push, and pull up to 25lbs regularly and up to 50lbs occasionally.
Must have dexterity of hands/fingers to operate equipment, tools,
and vehicles.Work is often outdoors and is subject to changing
conditions - temperatures can swing with the weather from very cold
to very hot. PPE required depending on tasks and include ear
protection, face masks/shields, glasses, respirators, protective
