activities. Essential Job FunctionsThe Program Supervisor's role is
to foster a sense of true community while providing an array of
activities and programs to satisfy the body, mind and spirit. The
target audience is the residents of the community, prospective
residents and family members. Additionally, creating liaisons
between the retirement community and various organizations will
foster relationships with the greater community. The position is
responsible for coordinating and executing all aspects of the
recreational, spiritual and activity needs of the community.
- Is responsible for activity calendar including planning and
executing all events. Activity selection will take into account
community-specific preferences, holiday occurrences, greater
community functions and creative special events.
- Is responsible for production of activity calendar, including
coordination of community activity in other departments.
- Creates schedules for community bus service including local
shopping, medical visits, scenic and destination trips.
- Ability to creatively decorate community in tasteful and
appropriate theme manner for various events.
- Researches, interviews and hires entertainment for events while
remaining within budgetary constraints.
- Establishes calendar of events that will attend to individual
and group needs in terms of physical, mental and spiritual
- Establishes a relationship with outside sources i.e., local
senior centers, religious groups, libraries, hospitals, high
schools and local merchants.
- Establishes attractive, appropriate gift shop. Possesses
ability to stock and maintain professional appearance of gift shop
at all times while remaining within budgetary guidelines.
- Maintains an accurate and up-to-date database that will
encompass resident's preferences for interests and activities as
well as a separate database for prospective residents.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills,
including but not limited to interaction with seniors, family
members and the community at large, through one-on-one
conversations, public speaking and group presentation.
- Acts as a representative of Leisure Care Retirement Communities
to the general public. Adheres to professional standards in
personal appearance, conduct and motives. Is a person who is to be
trusted and is an expert in the senior housing industry.
- Acts as a part of the overall management team in regard to the
operation of the community.
- Motivates and empowers community personnel and residents to
take an active role in the creation and production of activities.
