ABOUT THE WALLA WALLA FOUNDRYThe Walla Walla Foundry is one of
the largest sculpture fabricators in the world. Originally founded
in 1981 as a bronze casting foundry, it now employs over 100 people
and produces work in a range of materials and through multiple
processes. The foundry casts in various alloys, including bronze,
copper, brass and stainless steel. It also produces work in wood,
resin, glass and wax. It houses an advanced technological
infrastructure encompassing a digital design and modeling
department, three high resolution five axis CNC machines, 3D
Printing, 3D scanning, and high precision water jet cutting
services.
ABOUT THE JOBThe Walla Walla Foundry seeks a 3D Print Technician to
join our team! As a part of the 3D Print Department, this position
will divide time between two main tasks- 3D printer operation and
3D print tooling. This position is also a great entry level role
for someone interested in gaining or growing digital modeling
exposure and skills. Position is onsite, at Walla Walla Foundry.
This is a full-time hourly/non-exempt position. This position works
regular Foundry hours, 7am-3:30 pm Monday through Friday.
Occasional weekend or overtime work too, as project deadlines
require.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
3D Printer Operation
Assist in the operation of two VoxelJet VX1000 printers.
Troubleshoot issues with printer
Perform regular maintenance of cleaning of machine and parts
replacement
Troubleshoot printer issues as needed; could include reading
complex instruction manuals and/or consulting with Foundry
employees and VoxelJet reps
Virtual monitoring of printer operations evenings and weekends, as
needed/assigned
Break out 3D printed parts from box, wearing required PPE
(respirator, nitrile gloves, safety glasses etc.)
Tooling of 3D parts
Stabilize/ fortify larger 3D prints by adding braces
Using sandpaper, sand printed parts to remove subtle striping and
inconsistencies in the digital print
Complete additional print work if needed, such as; adding braces to
fortify larger prints and/or gluing two smaller prints together
Dip sanded prints into room temperature wax
Quality control of parts and identify parts that need attention or
reprint
Other duties
Utilize basic understanding of digital modeling to reference work
in process
Update status of 3D Parts in Parts Tracking, an online tracking
program
Track 3D printer supply inventory and place orders as needed
Provide accurate time estimates and expertly juggle multiple
priorities to complete work, with acute attention to production
benchmarks and deadlines
Actively troubleshoot and solve problems, research solutions and
ask for input when necessary
Approach work with a safety mindset and follow established Foundry
Safety protocols and procedures; maintain work area and equipment
in a clean and orderly condition
Maintain Focus on uptime, optimizing workflow and reducing delays
in production
Flex between operator role in 3D Print department and/or other
departments as needed to create production efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate, or equivalent. Additional schooling such as
AA or technical school certificate or other trade school a plus
Minimum 1-year work experience; prior manufacturing or industrial
experience a plus
Strong mechanical aptitude and developing troubleshooting
skills
Established comfort level with technology and ability to learn new
programs quickly; exposure and/or basic proficiency in Rhino and/or
Materialise Magics desired
Passion and drive to stay up to date with the latest technology and
new techniques
Must be detail-oriented to ensure precision of parts
Must be organized and a self-starter
Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English; read and
comprehend printer instruction manuals; follow detailed written
procedures and work instructions as well as record and review data;
clearly document your work, and collaborate with fellow workers and
managers
Must thrive in fast-paced, dynamic team environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT
Frequent standing, walking, twisting, climbing stairs, lifting
and/or moving (up to 25 lbs occasionally and up to 50 lbs
infrequently). Frequent grasping and fine manipulation of hands.
Environment is industrial and can be dirty, dusty, and noisy. PPE
required and worn frequently include ear protection, face
masks/shields, safety glasses, respirator (clean-shave required for
proper seal) and sturdy work boots.
WAGES AND BENEFITSWalla Walla Foundry benefits include a generous

leave) benefits. Starting Wage: $16-20/hour, depending on
experience.
