Responsibilities
- Daily responsibilities of the pit operations
- Charging and alloying furnaces
- Calculating charges to ensure maximum scrap consumption
- Analysis of furnace samples
- Set-up and removal of tooling
- Pit turnaround
- Knowledge of Wagstaff ingot and billet technologies
- Furnace preventative maintenance
- SNIF preventative maintenance and rebuild
- Cleaning of casting pits
- Water system PM's
- Upkeep of pit area to include protective coatings
- Furnace cleans and tear downs before relines
- Upkeep of daily, weekly, and annual reporting requirements
- Casting documentation
- Reply to technical questions
- Ordering of consumables
- Ensure smooth transition between projects for minimal pit time
loss
- Organization and documentation of research molds and starting
heads
- Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly
- Abide by company policies
- In order to achieve business objectives, work weeks in excess
of 40 hours may be required
- May participate on various project teams focused on product
conception and/or product development
- Assist with ISO documentation as directed by project leads
- Assist with customer commissioning new equipment
- Other duties as assigned Requirements:
- Associate of Arts degree, or equivalent college coursework
toward a Bachelor of Science degree in a related technical
discipline, or vocational certificate in a related discipline,
preferred
- Must be able to successfully become respirator certified to use
this required personal protective equipment Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be
exposed to moving mechanical parts, machinery and equipment, and
vibration. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne
particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. While performing some job
duties, there is a risk of electrical shock and other risks
associated with a manufacturing environment. Job duties may require
work in high, precarious places, work in outside weather
conditions, and exposure to extreme temperatures in some cases. The
noise level in the working environment is often loud. Because of
this environment and associated risks, use of job appropriate
personal protective equipment and clothing is required. Employment
